After some wild speculation, a live-action God of War series is apparently on the way to Amazon - which will finally give Kratos his television debut.

As well as seeing a new entry this year, the God of War franchise may soon get a television show developed by Amazon for its Prime Video service.
Is A God Of War Series Coming To Prime?
Sony's movement into television with its video game titles doesn't seem to stop, as Amazon is negotiating for the rights to a God of War TV show.
This news comes directly from Deadline, which is reporting that the adaption of the mythology-based action-adventure game will be headed up by The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, along with The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins.
Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions will also take on their usual roles in collaborating with the other productions companies who end up behind the series. There's no news on when we could see God of War or who will be flexing their muscles as the Ghost of Sparta, but you can bet it will be one of Hollywood's must-have roles.
Christopher Judge delivers the iconic voice performance in the games, though his recent health issues would sadly make it difficult to take up the role in live-action. However, a cameo is always possible, and after Nolan North's appearance in the Uncharted film, it could very well happen.
What Other Video Game Adaptions Are Happening?
Following in the footsteps of everything from The Last of Us to Halo and BioShock, Tinsel Town seems destined to keep trying to break the video game adaptation curse. It's been a trend since, well, forever, that when video games are adapted to film, it fails. Television is still mostly untouched though, and many of the upcoming adaptions could finally shake things up.
The fan-favourite The Last of Us TV adaption is set to release its first season in 2023, with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey confirmed as Joel and Ellie respectively. There have been numerous leaks of pictures from the set too, showing off familiar scenes and characters.
For something sooner, there is the upcoming Halo TV series, produced by Steven Spielberg himself. After years and years of productions hell, we finally saw a trailer for the series recently, and it's set to debut later this month on March 24 for Paramount Plus.
