Things are 'clicking' together nicely, as Epic Games is trying to 'build' a crossover of monumental proportions in Fortnite. While the battle royale Goliath has had crossovers with everything from Dragon Ball Z to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Predator to The Witcher, we're surprised a LEGO crossover didn't happen sooner.

LEGO and gaming have a strong history, with us having come a long way from LEGO Island. Alongside the likes of the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, there was the recent release of LEGO 2K Drive. Considering Build Mode is a popular part of Fortnite, it should go hand-in-hand with LEGO.

Epic teases Fortnite x LEGO crossover

Back in February, a series of reliable leakers claimed a Fortnite x LEGO crossover would be coming later this year. Now, there's a little more information to flesh out the original leak. According to all sources, this will be much more than your standard crossover with some LEGO skins popping up in the Fortnite shop.

The first leak claimed that the LEGO crossover was for Creative instead of Battle Royale, with a full 'Brick Database' suggesting you'd be able to build your own blocky paradise. The project is referred to as Digital Twin and will bring real-world LEGO builds into Fortnite via the Unreal Engine.

This collaboration has now been confirmed by Epic President Adam Sussman and the LEGO Global Chief Product and Marketing Officer Julia Goldin via a presentation at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Sure to divide players, Sussman spoke about the importance of the Metaverse.

Does the Fortnite x LEGO crossover have a release date?

This is supposed to just be the start of a suitably massive partnership, and although no LEGO Fortnite sets are on the market yet, 9 to 5 Gaming claims that a Battle Bus set could be on the way next year. Thankfully, you might not have to wait as long for the in-game crossover.

Dataminer NotJulesDev has done some digging and found that the uncovered Project Rufus isn't the Doctor Who crossover, but a secret name for the LEGO collab. As for the big day, November 6 could be one to mark in your diary for the Fortnite x LEGO crossover.

Epic hasn't made the date official yet, but with leaks usually being on the money with Fortnite we're excited to learn more. And just when you thought The Legend of Zelda LEGO was the most exciting LEGO announcement of 2023.
