While it will come as no surprise to many, a Five Nights at Freddy's sequel movie is officially on the way. After Emma Tammi's Five Nights at Freddy's soared to the top of the charts in 2003 and broke box office records, those maniacal machines are clunking back into our lives.

The first Five Nights at Freddy's debuted as a simple point-and-click horror in 2014, but since then, it's ballooned into a frightening franchise of nine mainline games and more spin-offs than we care to count. It's fair to say that there's more than enough material for just as many movies.

A Five Night at Freddy's sequel is on the way

Speaking at CinemaCon (via The Hollywood Reporter), Universal President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution Jim Orr has confirmed that a Five Nights at Freddy's sequel is coming. There's no word on whether Tammi will be back in the director's chair, although she's previously suggested she would be.

Tammi told the site, "We have some loose ends that I think are going to have to come back in a sequel to be tied up," while lead actor Josh Hutcherson said a sequel was actively in development with him set to return as Mike Schmidt. To be honest, we just need to find a way to get Matthew Lillard to return.

In terms of where things head next, expect to find a new locale and an even bigger cast of rotten robots. We'd love to see fan favourites like The Puppet, Circus Baby, and Funtime Freddy, but as it sounds like things are only just kicking off, there's no news on the cast or setting aside from a 2025 release.

Give us our Fortnite collab

After Blumhouse confirmed the Five Nights at Freddy's sequel, it sparked hopes of the long-awaited Fortnite collab. We heard of Freddy Fazbear and his clattering cavalcade making their mark on Fortnite as far back as 2021, but sadly, it never came to pass. Instead, we got the very Freddy-inspired Danger Dux set.

Fortnite fans have made their own FNaF maps in Creative, but as the gaming franchise only grows in popularity, they're demanding an official crossover. Despite Fortnite once shying away from its horror skins, it's since adopted everyone from Michael Myers to the Xenomorph into the fold, meaning Freddy might not be far behind.

One Freddy fan cheered, "When this happens I’ll actually spend my money on this game," while another added, "I need this fr." A third simply concluded, "Oil up RN." It's true that Steel Wool owns the rights to the IP, not Blumhouse, but still, we'd be throwing our V-Bucks at the idea of Freddy shooting up Lavish Lair.
