"Modern" Warfare 3 hasn't really been true to its name in recent weeks, having endorsed Sledgehammer Games' collection of Call of Duty games by remastering content from both ends of the chronological time spectrums that the series has visited.
Advanced Warfare and Vanguard guns and maps have both landed in MW3 with more to come soon, as the perplexing timeframe continues to confuse players and fans.
But what about Sledghehammer's other child, the outcast of the group, in Ghosts?
MW3 fans say Ghosts 'deserves' some love this year
Originally, it was thought that each season in Modern Warfare 3 would play homage to older games in the series to celebrate its 20th birthday, likely Sledgehammer's portfolio consisting of AW, Vanguard, Ghosts, WWII, and the OG MW3.
This has wavered somewhat, but content from AW and Vanguard has begun to be added, with futuristic guns being hosted by maps like Growhouse and Das Haus.
So, in the wake of upcoming Vanguard guns, fans now want Ghosts maps to arrive in Modern Warfare 3, namely Strikezone.
"This map deserves a remake," said one fan on an extremely popular tweet.
Sledgehammer Games has a wealth of map remasters at its disposal for MW3's final seasons
A Ghosts remaster wave would be incredible, as the game never really got the recognition that it deserved for producing such great maps and guns.
Iconic maps include Sovereign, Warhawk, Stormfront (DLC), Octane, and Freight all of which were brilliant for shooting with the Remington, Honey Badger, and Mtar.
More AW maps would work for boots-on-the-ground CoD too, with fans replying to the Tweet calling for Detroit.
Then, there's WWII too, as the recent Grime map has shades of the classic London Docks. Maybe USS Texas could be an equally fun map to revisit as well.
There are still three more seasons (presumably) of content lined up for Modern Warfare 3, and given that Sledgehammer Games has accepted its fate by not sticking to a specific era, it might as well give us a guard of honour of older masterpieces.
