Five Nights at Freddy’s Plus has been removed from the Steam store following controversies surrounding Phisnom.

Phil Morg, also known as Phisnom, is a 24-year-old  game developer from Chile, known for their fan-made Five Nights at Freddy’s games. Until recently, they were also part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative.

Why is Five Nights at Freddy’s Plus no longer on Steam?

On 5 August, the Steam page for Five Nights at Freddy’s Plus was updated to say that the game is "no longer available on the Steam store", leaving the future of the game uncertain.

Development for the game started in August 2020. Five Nights at Freddy’s Plus was intended as a reimagining of the original game set in an alternate universe, with a higher difficulty and new characters.

Phisnom, one of the developers involved in making the game, recently came under fire after saying that the Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach DLC, RUIN, was boring.

Twitter user Alex, known under the handle @G0LD3NR4BB1T, reposted his complaints and said: "can we tweet this after FNaF+ comes out, it's only fair." Some members of the community reacted to Alex’s comment by sending him gore and death threats.

Phisnom reacted to this with sarcastic comments, asking why they couldn’t get death threats and posting an apology Google Doc that redirected to a joke video.

“Thats pretty messed up... why can't *I* get death threats?”, they wrote. “Do other people deserve death threats and I don't? every REAL Phisnom™ fan knows that I'm THE ONLY ONE that should be getting death threats.

“Could i git some death threats now pwease? giv em. pwease giv delic deth treats.”

Following this, Phisnom was seemingly removed as a developer from the Steam store page on 3 August. Two days later, the aforementioned message was added.

What is the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative?

Fangames in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise have been popular amongst the community. They act as a way for fans to look deeper into the twisted lore of the game, picking it apart however they wish.

Fazbear Fanverse Initiative was created by Scott Cawthon, the developer of the franchise.

Cawthon described the initiative as "a giant collaboration involving several fangame creators who have made some of the most popular fangames over the years here in the community.

“It's a project that's designed to invest into those franchises, give back to the developers, and hopefully bring new entries to those franchises as well!"

The project involves fan game creators like Emil Macko, Kane Carter, and Jonochrome. Scott’s goal with the collaboration was to be able to help fund additional titles.
