Rocket League is somewhat stuck at the moment. Nearly four years after Epic Games took over and sent it free-to-play, the developers have reached a bit of a standstill.

The high-octane "soccer" game has reached a point where there are few places for expansion. The skill ceiling has almost been reached, the visuals have been the same since 2020 bar a few buggy maps, and there appears to be no room for other modes.

Rocket League players need something to experiment with apart from the same old shoot-and-score football-like games. Epic once confirmed that Rocket League will eventually move to Unreal Engine 5 and allow for much more creativity. Now, fans think this is happening as early as April.

Rocket League Season 10 trailer is giving players hope for Unreal Engine 5

Epic Games recently took Fortnite to a new level by introducing Unreal Engine 5, and it was applauded instantly by fans around the globe - many of who only remember the basic no-skin gameplay.

Now, a new Rocket League teaser has appeared in a Fortnite-like manner and has players convinced that Unreal Engine 5 is here. If so, we could be ready to reinvent the automotive title for a whole new generation.

The trailer appears to show the fire and ice dragons (both of which were the theme of Season 9) flying into the sky and disappearing into a holographic lotus, which will seemingly play a part in the next season's look and design.

Is Unreal Engine coming in Rocket League Season 10?

With Season 9 due to start on March 8, fans think Season 10 will finally bring UE5 to fruition. "Ok ok hear me out, that would explain the rift: leading to the "new" engine where it led Fortnite to a complete makeover," claimed one fan on Reddit.

Another agreed, saying, "Yes, at best, new unreal engine update, at worst... Lots and lots of lotus stuff." Many others also hope to see UE5 in Season 10, and with just a week left, we don't know what Epic has been cooking up in their garage.
