As FromSoftware prepares to expand the franchise, a Kickstarter campaign for an Elden Ring board game takes the series in a new direction.

It's time to saddle up your spectral steed and roll the dice in the Lands Between, as an Elden Ring board game promises to take the fantasy franchise in a whole new direction.
Released in 2022, FromSoftware's long-awaited Souls-like cleared the charts and continued the developer's long-held tradition of pioneering the genre in new and inventive ways. As we ploughed hundreds of hours into Elden Ring, besting Starscourge Radahn and restoring peace to the realm became some people's obsessions.
What Is The Elden Ring Board Game?
As we wait for news on the inevitable Elden Ring 2, a tabletop board game based on the OG is on the way. According to Steamforged, a Kickstarter campaign for the Elden Ring board game is "coming soon." Co-founder Mat Hart said "fans should expect a dark, richly-realized tabletop world of mystery and peril, with satisfying combat and rewarding exploration."
Tabletop board games based on video games are all the rage these days, and it turns out the team behind the Elden Ring board game is also known for projects based on Resident Evil 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and even Dark Souls. Given that there's already one FromSoftware game under its belt, Steamforged seems like the right one to handle Elden Ring.
The Elden Ring board game's description reads: "In a vast, sprawling world of decaying grandeur that unfolds through your exploration, you'll embark on a huge and varied adventure, visiting iconic locations and crossing paths with familiar enemies and characters. Play solo, or with up to three other Tarnished." If you want to keep track of development, check back on the official Kickstarter site.
Is There An Elden Ring 2?
The dust is still settling on Elden Ring, so it's too early to start talking about Elden Ring 2. Remember, we're still no closer to learning about a mythical Elden Ring DLC. For the time being, FromSoftware is focused on keeping the base game updated.
Although we've seen the Dark Souls series spin out into a whole trilogy of games, others like the fan-favourite Bloodborne have sadly been left in the past with a single (albeit amazing) game. Then again, Elden Ring surpassed expectations in 2022, and with Bandai Namco President and CEO Yasuo Miyakawa talking about expanding the Elden Ring IP, we know this isn't the end of the road. Hopefully, we'll be sitting down to play an Elden Ring board game alongside Elden Ring 2.
