EA Sports FC seemingly slashes pace in Ultimate Team across the board

EA Sports FC Ultimate Team appears to be full of sluggish players as pace has been axed on some of FIFA 23's quickest stars.

EA Sports FC is on the horizon. As we enter September, the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team squads littered with 99 and 8-rated players are set to be laid to rest as a new era is on the cards.

The rebrand to EA Sports FC will see Ultimate Team stay, with a mixture of women's footballers too, and you're soon set to be whipping open your starter packs, trying to scramble for early-game overpowered cards - think Ibarbo and Eminike of the past.

But this year, those OP players are destined to be much harder to find (also inflating their prices), as it seems like ratings and pace are being slashed across the board.

EA Sports FC leaks show massive pace decreases in Ultimate Team

With a wealth of EA Sports FC cards being leaked and revealed, the biggest talking point appears to be pace (a combination of sprint speed and acceleration), as the base cards of players appear to be much slower than in previous years.

Mainly, these changes are hitting forwards like Mane, Antony, and Nkunku, all of which have "lost a leg" by being reduced by five-to-ten pace points, although some defenders such as De Ligt have been nerfed into the ground too.

Other players such as Kvaratskhelia, who despite having received upgrades, have come nowhere near their expected pace stats akin to where their in-forms and special cards married up to in FIFA 23.

Pace merchants have been found in EA Sports FC Ultimate Team

Despite this, there will still be a fair few pace merchants that you will want to find in your early-game packs.

Forwards such as Adayemi (Dortmund), Kolo Muani (PSG), Dembele (PSG), Diaby (Villa), Mbappe (PSG), Rashford (Man United), Nunez (Liverpool), Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid), and Osimhen (Napoli) all boast 90+ pace on their base cards, which will make them pivotal to your success early on.

While most defenders have also lost a yard of pace, such as the Barcelona duo of Araujo and Kounde, there does appear to be a few left with 80+ speed, like the entire starting Bayern Munich team.

With the Web App and Companion App set to launch soon, the Ultimate Team grind is set to pick up pace soon, but alas, your players won't.
