Big news from EA's planned Iron Man and Black Panther video games suggest they could be taking a leaf out of Marvel's Spider-Man's book by going open-world.

Electronic Arts is suiting up in spandex, as the gaming powerhouse makes a big push into superhero video games. While EA is known for its work on the Star Wars franchise with the likes of the Battlefront and Jedi games, it's now taking on the equally massive IP of Marvel.
We know EA is working on a multi-title deal, with at least three Marvel projects on the way. Sony has found great success with Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man, and seemingly trying to replicate this, the upcoming Iron Man and Black Panther games could be taking a leaf out of Peter Parker's rulebook.
Iron Man and Black Panther look like they're going open-world
While we've heard plenty about an Iron Man game from the developer behind the Dead Space remake, we've been warned that Motive's Iron Man outing is likely a long way off. Motive has hyped an Unreal Engine 5 game, but as production chugs along, some interesting job listings point at a much grander affair.
As pointed out by the site Geekinout, EA is currently advertising for a Senior Technical Artist to work on Iron Man. There's a direct mention that the ideal candidate will "oversee the rendering-related aspects of a AAA open-world action-adventure game." Finally, we could be flying high in that iconic armour.
For the mysterious Black Panther game, EA is looking for a Principal Sandbox Designer - again suggesting an open-world setting. We know even less about this game other than that it's a third-person, single-player title from Cliffhanger Games. The developer is a brand-new AAA team that is headed up by Monolith's Kevin Stephens.
More Marvel games than we can count
There's a lot going on in the world of Marvel gaming right now, and as well as plans for a third Spider-Man game, Insomniac is working on its long-awaited Wolverine. Beyond that, a recent ransomware attack revealed the developer's potential plans into 2030 and beyond - sketching out everything from a Venom game to a full-blown X-Men title.
In another corner of the Marvel Multiverse, Amy Hennig's Skydance New Media is looking to release Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra in 2025. Finally, Akrane Lyon has the Xbox-exclusive Blade waiting in the wings, meaning there's plenty of Marvel mayhem for fans of the comics to enjoy. While most of these are unconnected, that could be a good thing in this era of franchise fatigue.
