Fans of The Sims have felt hard done by as EA offers them expansions instead of fixes to the core game - and now, the company has apologised for a mass of bugs and promised to do better.

EA has been pretty comfortable as the leader of life-sim games for some time now, but it seems that players are starting to truly recognise their worth.
The Sims has been hit with controversy as players point out how the core game has gone a little neglected for features, as the company choses instead to roll out more Stuff packs and expansions for us to shell out for.
After The Sims has become notorious for giving players long-awaited features behind paywalls, players have been crying out for a change. And now, it looks like the bugs in the core game have become too much - forcing EA to apologise.
EA apologises for technical issues in The Sims
As The Sims fans call for core fixes rather than new additions via expansions, EA looks to be meeting their demands, revealing in a new post on X that it's going to be taking a better look at The Sims 4 itself.
"We know that technical issues with The Sims 4 have interrupted your gameplay over time and we recognize that this has caused you much frustration," reads a new post. "Today, we can share that we have assembled a team to invest in the core game experience, including tackling your reported concerns."
The team confirms it has a patch scheduled to go live later this month, with patch notes in the form of a "laundry list" on The Sims 4 Newsroom. The account insists that devs are going to be making improvements to The Sims 4's performance, as some report not being able to play the new expansions they've bought due to the current state of the game.
The Sims has needed some extra love that doesn't come in the form of another payment for a while, and now, The Sims 4 should feel like a finished game when players simply buy the core game. Fans of the simulation series are far more patient than they have any right to be, so a win for them is a win for all of us.
