Fans have been clamouring for more Death Stranding, but knowing director Hideo Kojima, its existence remains a mystery. Norman Reedus might've accidentally confirmed that more of Sam Bridges is coming, but it could take any form that Kojima sees fit.
If that wasn't enough, any of Kojima's rumoured ongoing projects could take precedence over continuing the world of the Stranding. But now, new leaks are pointing to its arrival being closer than ever. Are you ready for Death Stranding 2?
What's Going On With Death Stranding 2?
A new rumour has surfaced courtesy of ResetEra user Dusk Golem, which indicates the sequel to Death Stranding is in active development.
The leaker - who has been known to know their stuff when it comes to horror games - has claimed that the game is in the works under the codename "Project Ocean". "Death Stranding 2 is in development (and for some insiders to know I'm not bulls**tting about this in the future, its internal codename is Ocean)," says the leaker.
Dusk Golem continues, "But Kojima has had a long-standing deal with Sony on this, which is being analyzed if Sony and Kojima Productions should renew their contracts after DS2 or not at present, but was never in question before this due to a multi-game contract Sony and Kojima Productions have." It's definitely interesting, but yet again, we're lost in an "ocean" of Death Stranding rumours.
Death Stranding 2 Was Always Planned For PlayStation
Rumours that a new Kojima game was once in the works with Stadia worried fans that thought a sequel to Death Stranding wouldn't come to the PlayStation family of consoles, just as the reveal that Kojima is working with Xbox did. According to Dusk Golem, Death Stranding was never planned to continue anywhere without PlayStation.
"Any murmurs about a DS2 with anyone other than Sony is bulls**t," they say again. "The deal with Xbox was never meant to be DS2, this rumour is just false, Sony and Kojima Productions have a multi-game contract that expires after DS2 and at present is being decided by both parties whether to continue their relationship or end it after DS2, and that is the truth." Who knows when Death Stranding 2 itself will actually launch (if at all), but if you believe the latest, at least it's in the works. Finally.
