"Hello Sidney, do you want to play a game?" While most of us are used to playing Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight on the small screen by picking up a controller, the horror franchise is set to grow in a big way in 2022.

Dead by Daylight has been hacking its way through innocent Survivors since 2016, but it's only relatively recently that the asymmetric horror has found a new bloodlust. Alongside an impressive roadmap for this year that's already included a new crossover with Saw and the introduction of Ringu, you'll have a whole new way to play before 2022 is dead and buried.

What Is The Dead By Daylight Game?

Dead by Daylight Board Game

Instead of being diced by Freddy, Jason, Michael, or Leatherface, we're being asked to roll the dice when the Dead by Daylight name comes to life in tabletop form. Dead by Daylight: The Board Game is the work of Level 99 and hopes to hit shelves in time for Christmas via Kickstarter.

The developer announced the news on a blog and confirmed "Project Crow" has been in the works since last year. There are only a few promo shots, and while we're gutted the minis won't come painted, why not gather your fellow Survivors for a night of painting? The big "hook" here is one of the minis is an actual hook that we guess you'll be able to impale rivals on if you're one of the Killers.

In terms of who made the cut, the first look confirms The Trapper, Wraith, Nurse, and Doctor are making up the Killer contingent, alongside Meg, Jake, Feng Min, Charlotte, and Dwight as Survivors. Although Dead by Daylight: The Board Game is only in development, it doesn't look like anyone from the crossover IPs is here (yet). Here's hoping Resident Evil's Jill Valentine, Silent Hill's Pyramid Head, and Hellraiser's Pinhead appear in expansions.

What's Next For Dead By Daylight?

Back in the realms of the video game, we're excited to see who else crawls from the crypt this year. There are repeated calls for other legacy franchises like Child's PlayCandyman, and IT to make the leap. Although DbD is already a terrifying experience, just imagine being stalked by Pennywise through the sewers of Derry.

Let's also remember, there's that bizarre rumour that Dead by Daylight dating sim could be on the way. Either way, it's the game's six-year anniversary in 2022, which is pretty impressive since most horror games are a flash in the pan. So, unplug your phone, lock the doors, and grab the butcher's knife... Dead by Daylight isn't going anywhere.
