After what felt like a lifetime, Counter-Strike 2 is finally here, and FPS fans everywhere are diving into the next iteration of the legendary franchise.
Massive improvements to network features, maps, throwables, and (obviously) the graphics have got the whole community excited about what Valve has in store for the future.
However, leaving behind such a long-standing game does have its drawbacks, one of which is the missing content that hasn't been carried over from GO.
For some CS2 fans, it feels like "half the game" has been cut, and Valve maybe should have kept the game in the oven until they could deliver everything in one package.
Counter-Strike players frustrated that 'half the game' is missing
Taking to the GlobelOffensive subreddit, user u/lowkitz voiced their frustration about the lack of features and content in CS2 compared to the OG game.
For them, it's almost as if Valve has cut "half the game" as there are "no good wingman maps, no party modes, no unranked competitive for warm-ups, no workshop maps option, no arms race, no flying scout, & no danger zone."
As expected, this sparked a response from other players who all agree that CS2's offering feels slightly "underwhelming." It's especially frustrating, given the OG game is no longer accessible. In a lot of players' eyes, this was a poor decision from the devs.
"They (Valve), should have not set a release date, it feels rushed, CS2 is unfinished, I'd rather play CSGO, with all game modes and options," said one user, with another arguing, "This wouldn't be a problem if they didn't just up and get rid of GO."
CS2 fans are confident Valve will 'bring everything back'
While there is some disappointment and sadness that CS2 hasn't quite delivered on the content side at release, players are confident that Valve will "bring everything back eventually."
"I'm sure they'll bring everything back but I was really hoping we would have all the game modes on day one release but even better, as well as reworked weapon models and animations."
One of the biggest points of criticism towards Valve has been its lack of communication and delivery of requests directly from the community.
This was fine in the past when it had such a solid and well-rounded title due to Counter-Strike's age, but with CS2, it may have to improve its communication significantly. This is especially true given the fact that so many OG features are missing.
