"Ten points to Call of Duty, for inflation, capitalism, and sheer dumb luck," - Professor McGonagall, probably.

Call of Duty's bundle problem is getting worse and worse as prices continue to rise from the first-ever weapon camos priced at $2.

In the latest saga on that front, Activision released its most expensive bundle ever into Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, costing around $40, and has almost immediately dished out refunds as fans have acted out on social media.

Call of Duty's most expensive bundle slammed by players

On February 18, Call of Duty rolled out the leaked Gassed Up bundle, which confirmed the rumours that the most expensive bundle ever was being added, worth 3,400 CoD Points.

The bundle, which saw the return of Weapon Vaults for the WSP family (WSP-9, WSP-Swarm, and WSP-Stinger), cost roughly $40 worth of CoD points, and fans instantly pointed out the ludicrous price, discussing alternatives that you could spend your money on.

"Remember when camos were $2 and you got them on EVERY GUN. Sad to see what this franchise I once loved has become," one fan said on Twitter.

Others pointed out that you could buy other games, such as the popular Helldivers, which has peaked at a higher concurrent player count than CoD itself on Steam.

ModernWarzone also slammed the inflated prices on Twitter, pointing out that you used to be able to get entire DLCs for half of that price, which included maps, game modes, Zombies, and weapons, rather than three blueprints of some unnecessary charms and stickers.

The bundle hasn't lasted long though, as it has now been axed and refunds are being dished out...

Activision issues refunds on record CoD Bundle

"The Gassed Up Weapon Vault Bundle has been temporarily removed from the Store due to a pricing error," said Activision on Twitter, via the CoD Updates page.

"The intended price is 2,400 COD Points. Players who purchased this Bundle for 3,400 COD Points will soon be refunded the difference of 1,000 COD Points," they added.

Despite this refund, other fans noticed that this price was a part of the leaks over a week ago, raising scepticism that this might not have been a "mistake" but a result of the backlash.

Still, fans have remained rather disgruntled with the bundle, claiming that the refunds still don't make up for the over-inflated price, as players would have had to add more points to their account, and won't get the monetary value back as a refund.

"Great way to scam people into spending $40 on cod points, you get the cod points refunded but they keep the real money," one fan pointed out, taking aim at the Points system rather than real currency sales.
