So far, Modern Warfare 3 has been a rollercoaster ride of nostalgia that the devs have completely embraced.

Whether it’s the OG array of MW2 (2009) maps from release, the MORS sniper from Advanced Warfare, or the recent return of Rebirth Island in Warzone, it’s all been a massive trip down memory lane.

Despite this, Call of Duty fans are not bored yet and want even more iconic weapons from the past to be added to the arsenal.

Well, a recent dataminer's leak will be music to the ears of CoD vets, as the SPAS-12 and Kar98k look like they’re making a return.

Kar98k & SPAS-12 found in MW3 and Warzone game files

No this is not a drill or a late April Fools joke, dataminer BobNetworkUK has uncovered the Kar98k and SPAS-12 in the MW3 and Warzone game files.

Both these guns are undeniably iconic, with the Kar98k being the king of Verdansk one-shots, effectively being the go-to rifle for an entire era of Warzone.

As for the SPAS-12, it’s a classic shotgun that’s most famously known for its performance in MW2 (2009), where the pump action weapon would easily blast foes into the kill-cam screen.

In terms of a release date for these weapons, that’s unknown at the moment, but given they’ve been added to the files, it shouldn’t be too long.

CoD fans praise “GOAT” devs for listening to the community

As expected, the community are ecstatic that these weapons are returning, especially the Kar98k which has been requested countless times by the fanbase.

Given new weapons' tendency to arrive overtuned, it’ll be interesting to see whether these OG guns will match the power of their predecessors in previous titles.

KAR98K MY GLORIOUS KING,” celebrated one user, with another claiming “Yeah SHG the goat confirmed.”

Datamines should always be taken with a pinch of salt but it’s hard not to get excited about this news. Sledgehammer is quickly establishing itself as the community’s favourite dev, and with planned content like this, it’s easy to see why.
