They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and after 21 years of Call of Duty games, some have accused the devs of running out of ideas. More than Warzone cashing in on the battle royale genre that PUBG coined, Black Ops 6 has now been accused of ripping off Among Us. It's all a little 'sus'.
Treyarch is rolling out the big guns with its next outing, and with Black Ops 6 looking like it will live up to its hype as the biggest CoD of all time, it's throwing a kitchen sink of ideas at us all. Alongside the return of favourites like Theater Mode and Zombies, there are new additions like a Nuketown-inspired Warzone and human meat shields.
Black Ops 6 players hate Among Us-inspired Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade
It's all gone down at CoD: NEXT, with those lucky few getting their first chance to jump into battle ahead of the game's first beta weekend. Among the most shocking reveals is the Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade, which lets you sneak into enemy ranks undetected and pick off foes while disguised as one of their own.
The official CoD: NEXT blog post explains how there will be five Field Upgrades in the beta, balancing familiar ones like Trophy System and hybrids from previous entries like Assault Pack. The Black Ops-centric Sleeper Agent is causing a stir.
Activision writes: "This allows you to infiltrate the enemy team, appearing as a friendly to them for a short duration. Kills extend the time you’re in disguise, though gunfire and closeness to the enemy reveals your true identity!" It even comes with a blue name tag for that extra level of deception.
As you can imagine, having a wolf in sheep's clothing hiding among your teammates is sure to be frustrating. Now that we've seen Sleeper Agent in action, it's already become one of Black Ops 6's most-hated additions. While UAVs and other recon devices will clock that you're a mole, Sleeper Agent makes Roze skins look like a welcome part of the CoDverse.
When @MikeRxqe said the combo of Sleeper Agent and Body Shield is going to make Black Ops 6 wild, someone responded saying, "I already know I’m gonna lose it when some 12-year-old puts me in a headlock and starts yelling skibidi toilet lyrics in my ear."
Someone else added, "This needs to be nerfed or removed completely. Just a bad idea to have a perk as someone disguised as another teammate, when everyone is dressed like a Comic-Con convention in a match." Thankfully, the Vigilance Perk is a counter for Sleeper Agent, so it might not be as OP as it looks.
Still, another concluded, "The Sleeper Agent sh*t better not be in every game mode," and a third said, "It’s still a stupid idea. Why do they add stuff to the games every year that NOBODY ever asks for?" That's the problem, though - you ask for something new but then complain that the new thing isn't the one you asked for.
