As Activision and Microsoft narrow the big day where they can tie the knot and be officially wed, the publishers of the Call of Duty and Diablo series are enjoying the fruits of the merger already.

Just weeks after reactivating classic Call of Duty games and slashing the prices of the titles significantly on Xbox, it now appears that there are a record number of Activision titles that are topping sales charts on the console.

Activision dominates game sales charts with four top-ten entries

While the gaming world waits for some colossal releases in the second half of the year - and PC gamers have been flocking to the tipped Game of the Year Baldur's Gate 3 - console players have been back on their usual grind of mainstream series.

But with the revival of classic Call of Duty games, both Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have surpassed the current Modern Warfare 2 (2023) title in sales. Both been found in the top-five best-selling games on Xbox.

Activision's Diablo 4 has also retained its place in the charts, creeping in at tenth place, as the publisher has netted its first four-peat in the charts ever.

Black Ops 2 sales outweigh Modern Warfare 2, proving the best game ever

Interestingly from the Call of Duty side of things, the charts indicate that Black Ops 2 was purchased more often than Modern Warfare 2, which could finally lay to rest which game is the flagship title in the series.

Black Ops 2 was slightly cheaper on the marketplace, which could explain the difference. Most fans see these two titles as the best Call of Duty games (or even FPS games) of all time, and Black Ops 2 stans can now arm themselves with more ammo when it comes to the watercooler debate.

One thing is for certain, though, Activision is already enjoying its blossoming relationship with Xbox, as the two prepare to become one.
