Remember Cooking Mama? We remember Cooking Mama. The classic banger of a series was hugely popular, and continues to be on the Nintendo Switch - while other developers are capitalising on its popularity with VR titles and cooking integration in most modern RPG games.
But… it looks like a different kind of cooking simulator is on the rise. And it's a little bit more stabby. With horror movies being all the rage, there's also a very peculiar take on the cooking sim on the rise. In 2022, more than one instance of cooking games that use cannibalism as the main sticking point.
Cannibal Cooking Sims Are On The Rise
Thanks to a new investigation by PCGamer, we now know of two games that use people in their lists of ingredients - Godlike Burger and Ravenous Devils.
The former is a little goofier, parading as an Overcooked-influenced hectic cooking title, but offering players the chance to lay traps and kill your customers to turn into patties and "secret sauce"... whatever horrific thing that means.
It also lets you travel from planet-to-planet hacking foes up for your menus in a rather silly game - but the second is a little more… gruesome. Suddenly, you'll find yourselves hankering for the panic that you'll burn a pizza in Overcooked instead of slicing someone up as pepperoni.
Ravenous Devils Is Basically Sweeney Todd: The Game
Ravenous Devils follows the same fascination with people-meat, but it does so with a more gothic flair that allows you to slaughter the patrons of your tailor's shop. You then take their fits for resale and cook up their viscera for your restaurant. It's basically Sweeney Todd, but you know what? It looks like amazing fun.
Whether you're ducking from planet to planet looking for a fresh batch of victims to fry, or plan on starting up a tasty new gothic culinary adventure, it looks like cannibalistic cooking games are on the way up. Jump into Godlike Burgers or wait until the April 29 launch of Ravenous Devils if you've got a taste for flesh. But not real flesh, obviously.
