Call Of Duty Leaks Hint At Standalone Zombies Game

A standalone zombies game seems to be in the works by Call of Duty developers Treyarch.

Typical of their nature, Treyarch's foremost thought heading into the Black Ops Cold War era was to outsource to the shovels and dig up the undead, resurrecting the Call of Duty: Zombies timeline.

The story has taken us across the entire globe as the underworld rises through to our screens with a sprinkle of element 115 and the nasty work of Dr Richtofen amongst other catastrophic accidents. Visiting haunted theatres (Kino Der Toten), a monstrous and alive castle (Die Eisendrache), and even the Pentagon (Five), the zombies' story has been intertwined through over 20 chapters and shows no signs of slowing down.

With the massive potential for a standalone zombies title that ties together the entirety of the eerie aether universe, it appears Treyarch and Activision have their ears to the ground. According to renowned leaker Tom Henderson aka LongSensation, "There is a separate Call of Duty zombies project in early development, that is currently not connected to any title".

The news comes just days after the leakers' main account was suspended, allegedly due to a DMCA strike by the publishers following other correct leaks, especially around the world of Call of Duty: Zombies.

Treyarch is set to be out of the rotation for another two years, following the re-implementation of Sledgehammer Games who are suspected to be the lead developer of a Call of Duty: Guerrilla Warfare title in 2021 before Infinity Ward are granted their turn again in 2022.

With two years to spare, it would come as no surprise if Treyarch began to work on their own spin-off, building on top of their esteemed zombies campaign.

A standalone zombies game that unifies all spokes of the wheel would surely be a huge hit for Treyarch, should it ever come to fruition.
