Call of Duty players told to ‘grow up’ over Season 6 jump scares

If MW3 Season 6 is too scary for you, don't worry, Sledgehammer Games has you covered - even if other players don't.

Call Of Duty Fans Are Turning Off Jump Scares

To quote Goosebumps, "Beware, you're in for a scare." More than going out with a bang, Sledgehammer Games' Modern Warfare 3 is set to bow out with a bloodcurdling scream as Treyarch prepares to become a copycat Call of Duty killer in 2024.

Even though there's a lot of chatter about the upcoming Black Ops 6, MW3 Season 6 is set to give us one last jump scare. With the return of The Haunting event, cold-blooded killers like Art the Clown and Michael Myers are continuing their legacies. There's also a new battle pass to complete and a terrifying three-headed Operator

Call of Duty players called 'cowards' over Season 6 jump scares

We love a good fright, and while Call of Duty has never been like Alien: Isolation, there's a warning about Season 6's jump scares. After updating CoD, you'll be prompted that jump scares might be too scary for some. Don't worry because these can easily be disabled using the following method:

  • Press the six dots icon in the top-right of the lobby screen
  • Head to the Settings tab and select Accessibility Presets
  • Click the Disable Jump Scares option
  • Select "off" to turn them off or "on" if you want to reenable them

'Hardcore' players are taking these jump scares in their stride, claiming that anyone who disables them is a coward. Jump scares tend to happen when opening crates, and while not a patch of Resident Evil 7, they can cause a start from those with a weak heart.

When the CoD Updates account told you how to turn off jump scares, one horror-loving gamer wrote, "F**king lame… just grow up and don’t be scared 😂." Another added, "If you're too afraid of cod jump scares go play Roblox," and a third said, "They’re not scary, just annoying cuz of the big ass ghost in my face blocking my whole screen."

Others took the opportunity to mock the state of the game. Someone else chimed in, "Only jump scare we got today is logging in and seeing there's still no resurgence solos for like a month now........," as another concluded, "Are the jump scares supposed to be the servers not working? It's not scary so much as annoying....

Jump scares are just a small part of the supersized update, but it's a shame Sledgehammer has cooked so hard but so close to MW3's end. As jump scares are due to be part of Season 6's entire run, they're here until MW3 eventually bows out and might become a little tiresome. While they're fun for now, we're likely going to turn them off at some point - and not because we're cowards.
