As the next instalment of Call of Duty waits eagerly in the wings, fans have been anticipating just what Treyarch has been cooking up for four years.

Ahead of its proposed showcase during [REDACTED] Direct next month and an in-game reveal, Black Ops fans are hoping to see a Beta release date. This will allow them to get a first touch of the title, which will be their playground for the next year (or two).

However, it seems that some Call of Duty 2024 action might be coming much sooner than we think, as leakers claim an Alpha Test is planned.

Black Ops 6 could be getting a multiplayer Alpha Test

Alpha Tests aren't common in Call of Duty - not publicly, anyway. In fact, we've only ever had two. The first came during the build-up to Vanguard, as Sledgehammer Games rolled out the multiplayer King of the Hill mode to gauge players' feedback on the movement and shooting mechanics.

The second was before Black Ops Cold War, although it was a PlayStation exclusive. We haven't had one in the last two years, as Modern Warfare's back-to-back titles appeared to stop the new trend.

However, according to "SemtexLeaks", who revealed Das Haus was lined up for MW3, a game file indicates that a multiplayer Alpha is planned for CoD 2024 too. The leaker claims that "BO6 will be following in BOCW's footsteps and will release a Public Alpha build sometime before launch!"

What would a Black Ops 6 Alpha include?

Call of Duty's weird release phase previously showcased an Alpha and Beta for multiplayer, while the Early Access reward for pre-ordering the title would stick to the Campaign. For Black Ops 6, this Alpha would continue the multiplayer trend, according to the rumours.

Semtex Leaks added, "It looks like it'll be for Multiplayer, but I can't be certain. Knowing Treyarch though, and seeing how early the reveal is, I could definitely see some sort of an Alpha released to the public."

Unfortunately for the Treyarch die-hards, there's no notion of any Zombies pre-release content so far, and we might have to wait the full term to see what the undead have planned for Black Ops' arrival.
