Ho, no, no. Call of Duty has dropped quite the blunder in their latest skin ordeal, as yet another character has failed to hit the mark.
Skin in Call of Duty has gotten quite out of hand, with Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage being the latest crossovers to perish in the laser-vision eyes of Homelander and co. in a circus of superheroes and RnB stars.
But now that summer is in full swing, Santa Klaus is on his vacay. After stepping into his trunks, the bearded legend appears to have switched nations, baffling fans.
Call of Duty's Santa Klaus has become German...
Klaus Fisker was added to Modern Warfare 2 as a war-torn version of Santa designed for conflicts, ditching the sleigh and bells for tanks and guns.
But his latest skin has seen the character change from being Danish to being German. According to his in-game bio, Klaus is from Denmark, but his new "Surfin' Klaus" skin in the "The Offseason" bundle actually shows him sporting the German flag on his arm, leaving players baffled.
"Extra funny since there isn't even a German operator in the game," one fan pointed out. "Why do they have this incredibly strange problem with not making German operators, and then continuously making said non-germans have German patches on accident?" quizzed another.
The skin comes with a shark on his back who is sporting a Santa hat as a tip to the original skin. Funnily enough, St. Nick was reportedly Greek or Turkish - neither German nor Danish. He also played the Easter Bunny (Mr Hips and Mr Hops) in Modern Warfare, sending this lore web into a bloody frenzy.
Call of Duty misinterprets Santa for Zombies lore character Klaus Fischer
It gets even weirder when you remember Call of Duty had actually seen two German Klaus' before, as World War II's Nazi Zombies game mode featured a character named Klaus Fishcer, and Black Ops Cold War's Mauer der Toten map also had a robot named Klaus.
Redditors are now convinced that the current character has now been misidentified in the lore with Klaus Fischer, rather than having his own information shown on his kit. It's unlikely the team meant to change Klaus' nationality, but yet again, they could be honouring the Christmas Tree's originating country with a bit of lore.
