Bloodborne Kart may have started out as a joke, but it has very much become real since it was initially announced as an April Fools prank in 2022.

However, it has had to postpone its release, which was supposed to come at the end of the month, after Sony contacted the developer and asked them to remove branding from the game.

Sony reached out to the developer of Bloodborne Kart

Sony has reached out to the creator of the upcoming game, Bloodborne Kart, to ask them to remove the IPs branding.

In a recent tweet, the developer, who goes by B0tster on the platform, said: “WHELP. IT HAPPENED. Sony contacted me.

“Long story short I need to scrub the branding off of what was previously known as Bloodborne Kart, which we will do. But that requires a short delay.

“Don't worry, the game is still coming out! It'll just look slightly different.

“Like I've said in multiple interviews, we were all expecting this to happen so we could be pleasantly surprised if it didn't.

“It happened, so we're shifting gears (ha) to take care of it. I'll get back to y'all ASAP when we figured out a new release date!!

“As much as I pushed for this to be "the meme made real" so to speak, turning this into an original game that we have full creative control over is kind of exciting. This is a fan game no more!

“Regardless, thanks for understanding everyone!!”

Bloodborne fans are showing support for the developer

The developer also shared the news in a YouTube video which has received a lot of support from those excited to play the game.

“While this is disappointing, you take the time you need for remodelling. I hope you have a great time with the development,” wrote one commenter.

Another said: “Dang, I'm surprised this is what got them and not Bloodborne PSX. Sorry for the setback, but it'll be cool to see what you create with even more artistic liberties.”

Several others joked about the current lack of Bloodborne content, claiming that they didn’t think Sony even knew what Bloodborne was.

The game is being developed by Lilith Walther, who also created the Bloodborne PS1 demake, is behind the game.

While it may not be Bloodborne branded any longer, it will still include 12 racers, 16 maps and a single-player campaign including boss battles.

Local split screen multiplayer and a VS Battle mode will also be in the game.
