Blizzard? Caught in a scandal? Never. Sarcasm aside, the latest Diablo launch has rubbed a lot of fans up the wrong way. The new mobile and PC title is Diablo Immortal, but it's already facing a backlash.
Even though most fans are having fun with Diablo Immortal, the game's loot box system has caused a lot of upset, with one YouTube channel proving that it could cost up to $110,000 in order to level your character up to its maximum capacity. Fans are peeved - and Blizzard knows it. It's doing what it does best - ignoring it.
Why Is Blizzard Ignoring The Diablo Immortal Drama?
In response to the controversy surrounding the new free-to-play title from Blizzard, the company has elected to do… absolutely nothing.
Blizzard has instead chosen to gloat about the game's successes, announcing that in a week, Diablo Immortal has already become the Diablo series' biggest launch in history.
To be fair, the title has been a roaring success with gamers and scored over 10 million installs in that time. It doesn't offset the fury of long-time Diablo fans. And they've made sure to make their voices heard in the replies to Blizzard's boastful tweet.
Fans React To Blizzard Ignoring Them
Diablo Immortal players have wasted no time in telling Blizzard exactly what they think of the game's problems, or the fact that the developer seems to be trying to ignore their criticisms.
There's even a new petition calling for Blizzard to amend its attitude to microtransactions in Diablo Immortal, which is only just starting to gain some traction.
It's a shame that a game like Diablo Immortal has gone to pot so soon, and especially as the franchise has such an active and passionate community. It's even worse that players are feeling ignored by an already frost Blizzard. Here's hoping that Blizzard packs it in soon - because who knows how long the game will last if it doesn't
