Banned NICKMERCS skin could return in Modern Warfare 3

The banned Nick 'NICKMERCS' skin is likely to return in Modern Warfare 3, but not for everyone, as his return comes with a major catch.

Activision's pockets have been well-lined with the souls of players who love its microtransactions, but its usually sky-high figures might have dented this year amid the drama and boycott surrounding the banned Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff skin.

The streamer's skin was removed from the game amid LGBTQ+ comments on social media. It also resulted in Tim "TimTheTatman" Betar's bundle being axed from the store too, upon his own request.

But if you want to use those skins in Modern Warfare 3 - or any purchased and unlocked Operator, for that matter - you actually can do. Call of Duty has confirmed skins will carry over for the first time ever.

Call of Duty confirms all skins will transfer to Modern Warfare 3

Call of Duty has now confirmed that all skins, operators, and camos that you have either purchased or unlocked in Modern Warfare 2 will be available in Modern Warfare 3. Although, certain characters will require to be unlocked through an in-game challenge.

The cosmetic items will be available in MW3 at launch (but not in the beta), and weapons will also retain their levels and progression. This comes as Activision claimed that it has never done a "direct sequel" before and wanted to keep the "Modern Warfare universe together."

It indicates that this could be the only game where we will see skins transfer over unless Activision has opted to make a surprise fourth Modern Warfare 4 and bring them back then - albeit in a few years' time.

NICKMERCS' skin will be available in Modern Warfare 3

With the confirmation that skins will transfer, this means that the now-banned NICKMERCS skin will be progressing through to Modern Warfare 3 and will be playable for another year.

Unfortunately for those fans who didn't snap up the skin and would like it, the NICKMERCS skin will only be usable in Modern Warfare 3 for people who bought it in the previous title. The divisive content creator's skin will not be a part of an in-game challenge to unlock.

The same goes for that of the TimTheTatman skin too. Following the controversy, it's likely that this will be the last-ever streamer collaboration, especially as Kris "Swagg" Lamberson's crossover was reportedly scrapped. But, at least you'll still have Nicki Minaj to contend with.
