Banjo-Threeie Trailer Is The Banjo-Kazooie Sequel We'll (Probably) Never See

Banjo-Kazooie's third game has been created by a fan project, and safe to say, Banjo-Threeie looks like an incredible return o form for the bear and bird

Banjo-Kazooie is something of a relic lost to time, as much as we'd like for it not to be. The hugely influential 3D platformer was a big deal, and stands today as one of the very best the genre has to offer.

As well as being the defining title for a lot of N64 fans' childhoods, it's an important benchmark in the history of the platformer. Its sequel (Banjo-Tooie) was just as much of a treat. There was the belated Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts on the Xbox 360, however, it practically shot the franchise dead.

Nuts and Bolts' vehicle-building mechanics took focus away from the thing that made the series special, and hope for a "true" sequel to the games died then and there. Now fans have come together to create a gorgeous look at what the perfect sequel could have looked like.

What Is Banjo-Threeie?

A brand-new trailer has brought to life the fan-made Banjo-Threeie in all of its next-gen glory, as one of the best platformers that we'll never get to play. The fan-made trailer has been revealed by YouTube channel Project Dream, and has offered a new peek into the world of Banjo-Kazooie with a HD sheen - alongside brand-new music and Jiggies galore to grab along the way.

"The Adventure Continues!" reads the video's description, revealing the game that will sadly, never come to light. "Banjo Threeie takes place 22 years after the defeat of Gruntilda in Banjo-Tooie… However, for a third time the old hag is back and stronger than ever… she has gathered an army bigger than you could imagine… and she's out for her final revenge!"

Is There Another Banjo-Kazooie Game On The Way?

There's always going to be rumours that Xbox could secretly be working on the Banjo-Threeie that we've always wanted, but as of right now, there's no proof of it being in active production. But, all hope is not lost, as fans are currently in the process of porting Banjo-Kazooie, as well as Conker's Bad Fur Day to PC.

The games are being reverse-engineered from their original appearances to work with PC hardware and control systems, and though there's still the threat of being struck with a cease and desist, the ports seem to still be going strong. It's a shame, though, that this much-dreamed-of sequel will likely never see the light of day. Rest in peace to Banjo and Kazooie. You were too good to us. Oh well, there's always Smash Bros
