Although Assassin's Creed becoming the basket in which Ubisoft puts all of its eggs in is a good thing for franchise fans, it seems to be impacting the company at large. It comes at the cost of great games like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown being lost in the noise of the industry.
Elsewhere, the stinkers are getting cranked by bizarre AAAA-flavoured press, especially as Skull and Bones takes to the high seas of the high street and fails to make an impact. Ubisoft seems to be hoping that its upcoming AC projects will help to dig it out and offer some serious financial-critical successes.
If Ubisoft follows through on active rumours, fans will certainly be showing up in their droves. And now, a new rumour seems to indicate that there could be some more classic Assassin's Creed remakes on the way.
Ubisoft is reportedly working on another AC remake
Rumours of a Black Flag Remake have been on the go for some time, as Ubisoft's time with Skull and Bones is expected to be a big help in development - but according to a new claim by Insider Gaming, it won't be alone on the market.
The site says that alongside the expected Black Flag Remake comes a game set across India, the Aztec Empire and the Mediterranean, the PvE 4-player co-op game, and another mystery multiplayer title. The big news is another remake for a previous Assassin's Creed game that hasn't yet been revealed.
It's a compelling claim and one that leads to a lot of questions, but as the post is shared to Reddit, it's clear that players have only one Assassin's Creed game in mind that is in dire need of the remake treatment.
Fans are desperate for an original Assassin's Creed remake
Players are taking to the comments in the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit with something that players have felt for some time. It's the feeling that Assassin's Creed, the original game that launched in 2007, is long overdue a remake.
"I wish they would remake the first one there's no way to play it on Playstation I know it's not the best but maybe they could change some things," says one user. "It is the one game where remaking it makes the most sense as it's something you can build upon like they did with AC2," adds another.
It's no secret that the first Assassin's Creed game pales in comparison to its sequel on a mechanical front, so the upgrade would do wonders for the game's brilliant narrative. Whatever Ubisoft is up to, players will likely lap it up - but fans know what they want, and it's another go with Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
