Somehow, it has already been four years since the release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which proved to be one of the more well-received titles in the series, and six months since Mirage was released.

Mirage was a smaller title by design (despite being loved by the GGRecon team), and now Assassin's Creed: Codename Red is about to emerge from the shadows as, uh, Assassin's Creed: Shadows.

Ubisoft's Quebec studio has confirmed the Japanese entry now has a full title, but could it hint at a stealthier style of gameplay?

Having already built up Red to be "The biggest blockbuster of 2024", Ubisoft has set expectations high for the Assassin's Creed: Shadows.

The title's name alludes to a return to stealth, we can surmise, which will be music to the ears of Mirage fans who yearn for a return to the series' roots.

Leaks previously claimed that the new Assassin's Creed game will be targeting a March 2025 release, leaving just 18 months between instalments, although Insider Gaming reports it could be pushed to the end of 2024.

Either way, it looks like we're about to find out on May 15.

Ubisoft to air Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer this week

In the Tokyo-looking teaser posted on social media, Ubisoft has now revealed that the trailer will be coming at 9 am PT (that's 5 pm BST) on May 15, where we will get a first look at what, or who, the guild will be looking to take down.

Reports suggest that the characters will include a Samurai and Shinobi, which have been ratified by the developers as one writer posted a Katana on a now-deleted LinkedIn post.

Shadows comes as just one of a handful of Assassin's Creed games reported to be in development, with Hexe, Jade, and Infinity still to come.
