With $ 1.5 million on the line at the pinnacle of Apex Legends esports, Respawn Entertainment and the ALGS officials are now under fire as bugs completely took over the maps.
The ALGS Split 2 Playoffs in London were set to give off fireworks as reigning champions TSM locked horns with DarkZero again, while a range of teams looked to be silent usurpers and get the rub of the green on the day to be crowned victorious.
However, a bug-ridden game and some crucial refereeing decisions have meant that three players have been victims to some unfortunate cheese on the main stage.
ALGS officials under fire as OpTic Gaming player crashes out
One of the most outstanding glitches of the weekend came from OpTic Gaming, although this time it wasn't an Apex Legends problem, but rather the ALGS. In one heat with just ten squads remaining, Mark "Dropped" Thees' league-mandated PC crashed.
This left Thees out of the game, and despite pleas to the referees, OpTic's man was forced to die in-game with no buffer. "Should have been a replay. That's actually insane," said one fan on social media.
Others were flabbergasted that there wasn't even a pause in play, which would have allowed time for the PC to either kick back into gear, or for the player to potentially rejoin the game. "No pause for a competitive esport?! This is crazy," another fan added.
Others have even accused the ALGS officials of favouritism, as TSM has previously been granted technical pauses off the back of glitches. "We only pause for TSM," a third fan jibed.
More Apex Legends bugs ridicule ALGS Playoffs
OpTic wasn't the only side to be faced with glitches either, as a further two players from different teams were turned into deathboxes at the expense of an in-game Apex Legends bug.
NRG's colossal Christopher "sweetdreams" Sexton was crushed by invisible barriers in one heat of Worlds Edge, where he opened his map at the edge of a wall and was instantly sent packing to the spectator screen. Thankfully, the NRG team was in an uncontested area and could hit a respawn beacon with no further qualms.
Korean-based team ganbare otousan wasn't as lucky with their regain though, as Shin "Jusna" Yong-ju was stuck inside a deathbox after looting and wasn't able to be freed from the glitch. This was despite Park "JungHee" Jung-hee attempting to empty all of the contents of the box, leaving the storm to consume both players.
Neither of the teams could have really thwarted DarkZero to win the entire event, but with cash increments per placing, it might be a sore pill to swallow for OpTic, NRG, and ganbare otousan. In the end, they finished eighth, eleventh, and fifteenth respectively.
