Collaborations between games and the wider media are quickly becoming the norm, and as the likes of Fortnite and Fall Guys are pushing the boundaries with in-game skins, Call of Duty is trying to play catch-up. Now, ahead of the calendar year for one of sport's most-watched leagues, some unorthodox Call of Duty leaks suggest a partnership is in the works.

Coming off the back of a Terminator Crossover, the Call of Duty franchise now looks poised for another collab for next season, this time eyeing a contract with the National Football League (NFL).

Following a rare hack in Warzone, one cheater has leaked an in-game skin that hints toward the Call of Duty x NFL collab, combining the signature tiger-camo pattern with the colours of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

NFL x Call of Duty Collaboration Leaked Through In-Game Skin

Call of Duty's love affair with the NFL is quite a storied relationship. Only recently were selected pros given the chance to play the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 build before any other members of the public. Even the decade-long esports players and content creators were snubbed at the first offering in favour of the American footballers.

However, after Warzone hackers have begun to unlock unreleased skins and weapon wraps, it appears that the relationship is moving on to bigger and better things. Ahead of the NFL 2022-23 Season, it seems that Call of Duty will be rolling out a range of skins in Vanguard and Warzone that will let players sport their teams' colours in-game.

The leaked skin shows a typical V-shaped design combined with the signature warfare camo, although why the Steelers' colours may be celebrated, it's not yet sure whether the whole of the NFL teams will be added.

When Can We Expect The Call of Duty x NFL Collab Release Date?

While the leak has neither been confirmed nor denied, the collaboration could come with Call of Duty: Vanguard's fifth and final season. The NFL 2022-23 Season is set to kick off on September 8, which comes just two weeks after the end of the current Season 4 of Warzone and Vanguard.

With the current Battlepass indicating that time should run out on August 24, this would coincide nicely for the NFL to generate some hype before the first ball is hauled.

As to whether the skin will be welcomed, you can bet your bottom dollar that the bundle with cost some heavy CP, and with an equally-minimal design to the CDL skins, they might need sprucing up a tad to make much of an impact.
