We're putting it all on red, as Fallout Season 2 prepares to take us back to the Wasteland. News that Amazon was teaming up with Westworld's Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy to create a live-action Fallout adaptation with the help of Bethesda's Todd Howard had us hyped, and thankfully, it didn't disappoint.

Just over a week after Fallout dropped all eight episodes on April 10, Amazon rightly renewed it for a second season. Good job because that cliffhanger ending put the pieces in place for an even grander Season 2 that could finally do justice to one of our favourite video games.

Fallout gets tantalising Season 2 tease

At the end of Fallout Season 1, Hank MacLean (Kyle Maclachlan) stormed off in his T-60 Power Armor and looked over the ruins of New Vegas. Despite some complaints that Bethesda was trying to erase Obsidian Entertainment's 2010 game from canon, Season 2 hopes to do it justice.

Speaking to Variety, showrunner Graham Wagner said, "Many of our lead characters are Vegas-bound. Las Vegas in the world of Fallout is Robert House's town. Robert House will be involved in season two." Co-showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet critically added that Mr. House "might have something to do with it."

Given New Vegas' prominence at the end of Season 1, it's no surprise that its moustachioed leader will be stepping up. After all, Rafi Silver's fleeting appearance as the RobCo Inc. head neatly set up Mr. House's expanded role.

Of course, Fallout is set some 200 years after the events of Vault-Tec (seemingly) dropping bombs on the world. It's also set after New Vegas' 2281 place on the Fallout timeline, meaning we've got some questions about how Robert House will appear.

Assuming Mr. House is still running things down on the New Vegas strip and won't be confined to flashbacks, it suggests that Fallout is canonising the House Wins ending. Here, Mr. House's Securitron forces won the battle at the Hoover Dam and eradicated both Caesar's Legion and the NCR.

Others have noted that New Vegas looks to be in a sorry state when Hank comes across it, meaning something bad has gone down in the 15 years between New Vegas and the events of the Fallout series. Either way, we hope Mr House is just as enigmatic as he is in the games.

We've still got a wait on our hands, and although Wagner and Robertson-Dworet have promised to get Fallout Season 2 out as quickly as possible, the fruit machines will likely be spinning for a bit longer before we're able to enjoy the bright lights of New Vegas.
