Considering that "in space, no one can hear you scream," there sure are a lot of Alien games making noise right now.
While Aliens: Fireteam Elite has largely fizzled from its launch, there's the upcoming Aliens: Dark Descent from Tindalos Interactive and the never-ending calls for Creative Assembly to make Alien: Isolation 2.
Some eight years after Amanda Ripley escaped the nightmares of the Sevastopol, we could be reaching for the stars once again and getting a great big face hug from a Xenomorph.
Is There An Alien: Isolation 2?
Up there with Capcom's Resident Evil 7, Alien: Isolation is held as one of the scariest games of all time. It boldly merged the survival horror genre with the sci-fi series, and even tied back to Ridley Scott's 1979 classic through its DLC roadmap.
Given how many Alien movies there have been and how much lore Creative Assembly created with the daughter of Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley, it would be almost too easy to give us Alien: Isolation 2.
Insider Gaming claims there's a AAA Alien game on the way... but it's not alone. Sources told the outlet an Alien: Isolation sequel is "in development or is currently being pitched."
There's no word on the developer, but it's expected that Creative Assembly will once again return to helm the project. Then again, Insider Gaming admits it should be heavily put in the rumour section for now.
What's The AAA Alien Game?
As for the mysterious AAA game, it's thought to be in the works under Grasshopper Manufacturer and is targeting a holiday 2023 release date.
Going under the codename "Marathon," the game has reportedly nabbed a AAA budget and is heading to new-gen consoles. Grasshopper is known for Lollipop Chainsaw and the No More Heroes games, but we'll have to wait and see whether there's any truth to the above.
The history of Alien games is something of a troubled one, especially with what happened to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Still, Isolation turned all that around and secured itself a place in the history books. Let's just hope it's not "game over man, game over."
