Activision is reportedly offering sponsorship streams to Call of Duty content creators like Nick 'NICKMERCS' Kolcheff to co-stream the CDL World Championships.

The streaming community and Call of Duty have always gone hand in hand, and the colossal arcade shooter franchise has often been criticised for favouring them in crucial gameplay decisions. Even recently, the developers were accused of favouring streamers in the "bad" Warzone Ranked release.
And now, Activision is reportedly paying content creators to return to Call of Duty streaming, specifically Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff, who has announced a nice little deal with the publishers.
NICKMERCS reveals himself as a CDL Champs Co-Stream
Having recently had his own Operator skin revealed in-game, and to be released at the end of May, NICKMERCS has now claimed that his allegiance with Activision is getting stronger. He will be officially joining the CDL watch party crew in a paid sponsorship deal.
"Call of Duty is paying me to do a CDL watch party for the Championship, so we're going to do it," NICKMERCS said on Stream.
The FaZe Clan Co-Owner did say that he will be rooting for his organisation in the finals and confessed that he hoped his bitter rivals LA Thieves, would not be. This adds fuel to the fire of a feud between himself and Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag.
Co-streaming has been a valid way of bringing in a new market to the competitive side of games, as seen in VALORANT, where the likes of Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek consistently out-views the main Riot Games stream, and Activision is hoping to do the same with NICKMERCS and more.
Activision set to pay content creators to co-stream CDL World Championships
Following a fevered return to YouTube, as well as Twitch as the broadcast platform for the Call of Duty League, it will be the first time a CDL World Championship match has featured on the platform. It now means Twitch streamers are being invited to be a part of the spectacle.
It looks like a range of content creators will be added to the co-stream lineup alongside the likes of Seth "Scump" Abner and Thomas "ZooMaa" Paparatto, who lead the way so far.
Personalities such as Alexandrea Botez, Kris "Swagg" Lamberson, and Tim "TimTheTatman" Betar have all been involved in co-streams before and could be amongst the names also to join NICKMERCS for the CDL 2023 Co-Stream lineup.
