When you're already tagged as a "hoodie org" by esports fans around the globe, 100 Thieves tries their damnest to do their talking in-game, rather than rely on eccentric clothes.

But in League of Legends, the team's recent choice of attire has landed them in hot water.

After winning their penultimate LCS fixture of the Spring Split Group Stage, 100 Thieves' Rayan "Sniper" Shoura has been penalised for his on-stage attire, after he wore open-toed Crocs in a post-match conference.

100 Thieves LCS player fined for wearing open-toe Crocs

According to 100 Thieves' social media account, the organisation was fined $5000 by the League of Legends (LCS) board after Sniper sported some sandals on-stage in an interview with Jack "CouRage" Dunlop.

Sniper's Crocs were donned with 100 Thieves Jibbitz, but the open-toe design is classed as a safety issue by Riot Games and the LCS and goes against strict policies to be worn in the studio environment.

Player comfort has always been placed first, with competitors often opting to wear their jerseys over the top of jumpers or 'skins', but the footwear of choice for Sniper was reportedly a violation of the dress code.

Speaking in a post-match interview with dGon Esports, Sniper said "I don't really care as I won't be paying it," offloading the issue to the parent organisation.

100 Thieves hit back at LCS over Crocs fine

In typical 100 Thieves fashion though, their final match of the season saw all five players take to the stage in Crocs, although the fashion statement did include closed-toe shoes, which appeased the LCS dress code.

Sniper even dubbed the casual wear as a lucky charm, as the organisation won back-to-back games with their Top Laner sporting the rubbery footwear, indicating that this superstition might continue into the Playoffs, and even MSI if they come out on top in the Spring Split.

100 Thieves ended the Group Stage in second place, only behind FlyQuest on the technicality of the head-to-head record, having notched up an impressive 10-4 record throughout the Split, and will now look to use their new-found boots boost to take on the best that NA has to offer.

Just keep a lid on those toes...
